We welcomed back Peter Dixon - Peter has been coming along to WCC for many years now and I can recall the first time I saw ' Printers Pie ' , Peter as you may know was a printer and "printer's pie" refers to lead type. I also remember in the late nineties when the name changed to ' Printers Pie - goes digital ' . As ever Peter showed and talked us through a large pile of beautifully printed B&W prints with subjects from misty mornings to still life's created inside abandoned cottages.
A good night with good craic . . . . thank you Peter, can't wait to see your forthcoming Colour talk.
Oh yes it time for the STA print comp entry selection - this time around please bring along prints f0r selection.
And I will also accept prints for entry into our Print Competition No2.
Yes this week we had the company of Ian Winship who gave us his insight and comments on our PDI comp No2 -
and you can now see the winning image plus 2nd, 3rd, and the 3 HC on the competitions page.
Based in both the US and Australia, Australian photographer Peter Lik has just sold this image he made just after dawn on the banks of the Androscoggin River in New Hampshire. The Image resembles an impressionist painting. and Peter named it “One” because it was a fleeting, singular opportunity; he felt a oneness with the moment and with nature; and he hit the shutter just once. The buyer has asked to remain anonymous - why ? because he has paid $1,000,000 for the image.
click on the image to take you to Peters website.
Lots of feedback from our Evening with Charlie Waite - see the new page In Praise of Charlie Waite at WCC.
